Blackened Salmon

Fresh salmon fillets with a blackened seasoning rub, seared until tender and flaky!

Ingredients:

  • 4 salmon filets 6 ounce each
  • 3 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon dark brown sugar
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt or ¼ teaspoon table salt
  • ½ teaspoon dried oregano
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon chili powder
  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne powder optional

Directions:

  1. Combine spices and brown sugar in a small bowl.
  2. Lay out salmon fillets and coat both sides equally with the seasoning mixture.
  3. In a 12-inch skillet add olive oil and set over medium heat.
  4. When the oil is hot add the salmon and cook for about 4-6 minutes per side or until blackened and cooked to your desired doneness. Do not overcook.
